United Way of Greater Houston honored diverse leaders at the May 8 graduation of United Way Project Blueprint Class XXVII. Eighteen graduates completed the rigorous curriculum that has prepared them to become effective board leaders. Calvo is a role model and an inspiration to others, using her personal experiences to demonstrate that they too can achieve their dreams. Congratulations to Houston attorney and community leader Lynne Liberato, partner at Haynes and Boone, who was named 2007-08 Volunteer of the Year by United Way of Greater Houston at its annual meeting on April 28.
Steven L. Miller, chairman and president of SLM Discovery Ventures, Inc., and last year's award recipient, presented Liberato with the distinguished Robert W. Kneebone Award. The Kneebone Award is the highest honor given by United Way of Greater Houston to a volunteer for extraordinary leadership and service to the community. >Read more
